My comic adaptation of an ancient Mayan myth is now available for FREE(!) Check out that snazzy new cover up there. Brush up on your Mayan mythology before the end of the world, and find out about the trials and tribulations the gods Hurricane and Plumed Serpent had after creating the world.
You can get it for your iPhone or iPad using Emanata, or download it as a pdf right here! Hurray! This story originally premiered in the Boston Comics Roundtable anthology, Inbound 5, and if you haven’t checked out that anthology do yourself a favor and get a copy! Great gift for foodies (do people still call people foodies?) and comics lovers!
This is my editorial debut. I worked as the story editor for the volume, working closely with artists and writers to get the best stories in the anthology as we could. I very pleased with the result. 11 wonderfully crafted stories with some of the best comic art you can find in New England! Thanks go to the art editor, Kimball Anderson, and the who put it in motion and kept everything running smoothly, Roho!
Some information on the book from the Hellbound site:
64 pages ~ $25 | Black and White | 8.5 x 11 inches
The Art Edition features a wraparound full color cover nearly a yard long, designed by Roho and featuring art by Jerel Dye. This volume continues in the same horrifying tradition with eleven chilling tales that examine the darkness that lies within all of us. These gruesome narratives feature some of New England’s best artists and writers: a quick taste of zombies, a story set in a mortuary, the dark side of high-school overachievers. Even baseball gets the horror treatment, The creators work in a variety of styles: totally black backgrounds, light and airy hiding terror underneath, a nightmarish character sketch, and some of the artist explore the woods at night. Also two nearly wordless stories, with one story taking place on a whaling ship and the other in a modern city. Closing out the volume with the chilling words of a criminal. This volume was Edited by Jerel Dye and Kimbal Anderson.

And I am super excited about it. Really really really am. There is so much great creativity and energy being pumped into this thing, it’s gonna explode on the 24th into a bonanza of comics joy.
I’ll be there selling comics including the brand new One Android Stories: Tide Lines. You can see a little more on that in the last couple of posts. I’m teaching a workshop on making Foldy Comics. Showing off two, yes two, techniques that let you make a comic out of a single sheet of paper, it’s a fun project for kids and adults alike. There will also be limited edition silk screen posters for MICE if you are interested in picking those up.
And of course don’t forget all the other fabulous exhibitors with tons of new work! 80+ at last count. I’ve been taking peeks at some of the new books debuting this year and I am absolutely agog at what folks are coming out with. So if you are into comics come out to the event, and hey, it’s FREE!
So I’ll be exhibiting this year at the sure to be fabulous MICE event! This is it’s second year, and it’s going to be even bigger and better than the first year to be sure! There are all kinds of great exhibitors, I think over 80 at last count. A whole slew of good panels and workshops to check out, (including one workshop that I’ll be hosting, I’ll let you know more about it when things are farther along), and lots and lots of great comics loving people to meet! MICE is presented by the ever wonderful group of comics makers and comics lovers the – Boston Comics Roundtable, and the Art Institute of Boston.
The show is:

1815 Massachusetts Avenue
Here’s the website for the event.
So I also happen to be one of the poster designers for the event. Which was a huge honor. It’s right up there guys:) There will likely be some limited edition screen print versions of this poster available at the show.
Over the last few months I’ve been working on a series of promo illustrations for the upcoming indie sci-fi comic anthology OUTBOUND published by Riverbird Studios. This is the third anthology in this really terrific series. You can checkout these promo pics on the Outbound webpage as they are released.
What’s unique about Outbound is that the stories continue from one anthology to the next. Which has allowed the creators to really expand there narratives in a way you don’t usually get from anthologies.
You can start by checking out Outbound 1 and 2, and read all the great comics by creators David Alluisi, Eric Boeker, Brian Boyles, Leonardo Costa, Patrick Flaherty, Bob Flynn, Joel Gill, Erik Heumiller, Kevin Kilgore, Jesse Lonegan, David Marshall, Dan Mazur, Josh Mills, Morgan Pielli, Mike Paoloni, Roho, Jacob Saariaho, and Kevin Zimmerman. I hope I’m not forgetting anyone.
And be sure to check back here for updates on the book as things get closer to the release date.
