Who doesn’t like gadgets in this holiday season? What better to pick up your spirits as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder than with a clever little doodad or geegaw. From now until the end of the year I’ll be featuring the robotic copters from the world of Whirlies. Starting things off, I give you….
The Pongibotcopter
This bot-copter is a finder of lost pets. It’s small, barely bigger than a person, and agile, it can fit through most doorways, and does well zipping down alleyways. If your pet gets lost, all you need do is call up a Pongibotcopter. These whirlies come equipped with a powerful loudspeaker, specially designed to sound appealing to most animals. They are also outfitted with Gentletouch technology grasping arms which ensure that your pet is never harmed when found by a Pongibotcopter.
Footnote: A few cases have been known of rogue Pongibotcopters who have broken their code and no longer search for pets. The strange thing about these cases is that in nearly all of them, the rogue Pongis roam the earth searching for lonely people in need of a hug, and then hugging them.

This week: The Gormandicopter
When designing a copter it’s much harder to keep your copter crisp, light, and simple, and much easier to just go nuts and add and add and add. There are just too many fantastic innovations, and accessories, and features being developed everyday. A gormandicopter isn’t a specific copter it’s more of a type, a copter that’s designer’s just didn’t know when to stop feasting. At first glance they always look fantastic, everything a pilot or passenger could ever need when soaring through the clouds. Tow kit, check, independent landing rotors, check, heavy gust stabilizer fins, check, multi compartment climate control, check, inflatable water landing pontoons, check, the list goes on and on. Get a bird like this in the air, and suddenly those features don’t seem all the great. They are sluggish, and slow, often have drift problems, and barely enough lift to get them over the smallest mountain ranges. So if you are a first time copter engineer, be aware, and don’t build yourself a Gormandicopter.
This Week: The Clampettcopter
Pack your bags, grab the whole family, and bundle up tight we’re going on a trip.
So just a little bit late on this weeks weekly whirly. I had some deadlines for other projects that I had to meet, and couldn’t spare the time until this afternoon. I’ll be sure to post about those other projects sometime down the line, but for now please enjoy…
This week: The Gerridacopter
What better way to let the world know what you are thinking than with a copter and a banner. While many whirlies can be outfitted with such rigs the Gerridacopter remains the very favorite. It’s inexpensive, lightweight, and boasts an impressive flight time record making it ideal for cruising around sports arenas and up and down coastal beaches. Add in it’s handy water landing pontoons and it’s hard to imagine picking another bird for this purpose
