Hey all, just wanted to let you know that I’ve got some new prints now available through my Etsy shop. Those of you who come by regularly might recognize some of them. Swing by check them out (especially if you like the purple… how did that happen?). And if you are a frequenter of Etsy– join my circle, or favorite my shop to get dibs on the new stuff as it arrives!
Well, it has indeed been a while since I’ve posted new art on here, so here we have it! This is another poetry broadside I painted for Roger Hooper. When Roger presented me with this poem as a candidate for a new broadside I was super excited. I mean just read that thing! It’s so damn visceral, I love it.
So developing imagery for this one was pretty fun for me. After spending many gut churning hours looking at photo’s of tissue damage for inspiration I ended up diving a bit deeper. The Science Photo Library, proved to be an amazing source for electron microscope imagery, of so much juicy amazing stuff. I’ve always been drawn to that imagery to getting the chance to riff off it was great. And This is obviously the result. Don’t look too hard for a direct physical correlation, there isn’t one, but I’m sure you could pick out my biggest influences in a lineup there.
Oh and this is ink, and watercolors, and the text is digital.
