Coming soon: One Android Stories: Deep Waters!
It’s a mini, and it’s been much to long coming. This is the first of hopefully many One Android mini’s.
As many of you already know this isn’t what I had initially planned on when I began the One Android project over two years ago. But after these two long years, thousands of words of text and dozens of inked pages, I feel the urge to get this work out there among you, the people.
The funny thing about graphic novels, and anyone who’s done one of these beasts knows, they change while you’re working on them. Your art gets better, your writing gets better, your interests change, you learn things about the medium and about yourself that makes it all look different to you somehow. So I’ve been thinking a lot about One Android lately, and what to do with it. Okay, that sounds pretty ominous, like a body in the trunk, but trust me, it’s not. I have so much love for the character and a whole lot more story I want to tell with him. Perhaps this is just pointing out my impatience. Recently I’ve been working on a bunch of short term projects and have been getting a lot of satisfaction out of them, they’re fun. I want One Android to be fun too! Making a graphic novel is a long term thing, I knew that going into it and I wasn’t expecting to be done at this point, but somewhere along the way the book went from that fun project I couldn’t wait to get to after a long day at work, to that other job I did after I made my money for the day. And it stopped being fun.
So this shift from graphic novel to series of minis is a way to get that excitement back, and to show all of you a little of what I’ve been doing all this time! I’ve dug into all the finished work I have and unearthed two (possibly three) self contained little mini’s that are nice and succinct. I’m currently prepping this for the printer and hope to get the first batch done in the next couple of weeks. I will keep you posted on their production schedule and let you know how you can get your hands on one when they’re done!
Thanks for reading!
